Media personality Alex Mwakideu has responded to accusations that he “set up” Pastor Robert Burale following a viral interview with his sister, Rozinah Mwakideu, on his podcast.
Over the weekend, Mwakideu and his podcast trended online after Rozinah gave a candid interview about her short-lived marriage to Burale. This came just a week after Burale himself appeared on the same show, where he offered a more diplomatic take on their breakup.
“This is my former brother-in-law. I was married to his sister, and I think it’s just that two good people did not work out. There was no violence in the marriage, there was no infidelity in the marriage,” Burale said during his appearance on the podcast.

However, Rozinah’s revelations painted a starkly different picture. Appearing on her brother’s show, she described her marriage to Burale as the “darkest period” of her life.
“My biggest mistake in life was marrying Robert Burale, and the darkest period in my life was when I was married to Burale,” she said.
“I was also in a very bad depression, and even people came to pray for me, not even able to go to church. I was just crying. There was a time I picked a kitchen knife, sat on the counter, and wanted to die,” Rozinah recalled.
She further alleged that she found pornographic videos involving men on Burale’s laptop, which ultimately triggered her decision to leave the marriage.
“Mimi ndio niliacha Robert Burale. I tried to leave the marriage twice but successfully left the marriage in my third attempt. For me, it was a matter of life and death. When I met Burale, there were so many women around. I realized it later,” Rozinah said.
“There is a video I saw of people of the same gender (male) and I confronted him about it. This is 12/13 years ago,” she added.
Rozinah also said she ignored numerous warnings from her own mother and even strangers online about marrying Burale. She claimed he was in heavy debt and frequently borrowed money without paying it back, resulting in a police case. She further noted that their union, which lasted slightly over a year, was childless.

“We were blessed not to have any child in the one year and a few days. People can be good. When I met him (now he may be a good person … grown matured), I don’t think he was. I don’t think I was also there. Red flags zinakuanga. Ukiona red flags, usijaribu kuhepa. Kubali ni red flag. Watu wengi walinitext kwa Facebook … chungana, you seem like a good person. I think Robert wanted to keep me in his sight ndio nisijue mambo mengi,” Rozinah explained.
The explosive revelations drew widespread attention, prompting Alex Mwakideu to clarify that he had no prior knowledge of what his sister planned to reveal during the interview.
“I did not know any of the things my sister said on that show. I was not aware that she tried to leave the marriage three times, her trying to kill herself, her celibacy, and all that I knew nothing. If there was anything I knew, it was the story of him borrowing money because it was on social media,” Alex said.
He emphasized that he did not “set up” Burale and only learned about his sister’s statements at the same time as the audience.
Rozinah’s remarks continue to generate debate online, with many contrasting her candid confessions against Burale’s earlier diplomatic response on the same platform.
