The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has suspended Super Metro Limited’s operator license due to non-compliance with Public Service Vehicle regulations.
According to NTSA, a compliance audit revealed violations, including expired inspection certificates, unqualified drivers, and speed limit breaches.
In its statement, NTSA said that the company must rectify these issues, conduct road safety sensitization, and undergo compliance checks before resuming operations.

“This is to notify the Public that the Authority has suspended Super Metro Limited’s operator licence until the Company fully complies with the Public Service Vehicles Regulations, 2014 and other set conditions,” NTSA said in a statement.
Passengers have been advised not to board Super Metro vehicles, and traffic authorities have been directed to impound any found operating.
“Members of the public are cautioned against boarding vehicle belonging to Super Metro Limited. The Traffic Department is required to impound vehicles belonging to the Company found operating contrary to the suspension,” NTSA said in the statement.
The suspension of the Super Metro Operator Licence comes at a time company has been on the spotlight after a passenger died after being pushed from one of the Matatus.
Super Metro on the Spot
On March, Super Metro suspended the crew involved in the incident where a passenger was allegedly thrown out of a moving bus.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident involving one of the buses operating under our company’s name. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.
We understand that the public is angry, and rightfully so. No one should loose their life in such a senseless manner. At Supermetro, we hold the sanctity of human life as a core value guiding our actions and decisions.
While the matter is under investigation, we want to assure everyone that we take safety very seriously. We do not condone reckless behavior, and as a precautionary measure, the crew involved in this incident has been suspended pending further investigation. We will fully cooperate with authorities to ensure justice is served.
Moving forward, we are reinforcing strict safety protocols and training to prevent such tragedies. We appreciate the public’s patience and trust as we work to uphold the highest standards in passenger safety.
Thank you.
