That’s exactly what the Captain Morgan Muckpit weekend in Meru turned into.

What started as a routine work trip quickly morphed into a full-blown adventure, the kind fuelled by loud playlists, unapologetic laughter, and a squad that made the kilometres melt away.

The Captain Morgan Muckpit Party didn’t just land in Meru — it stormed the town, electrifying Checkmate Lounge on Saturday, 6th December 2025 with bold flavour, high-octane performances, and the unmistakable Muckpit vibe.

 As the second stop of the nationwide Muckpit Tour, Meru proved itself more than ready for an unforgettable night.

But before the music, lights, and cheers, the journey itself set the tone.

The Road Trip: A Vibes-Packed Cruise to the Mountain City

We left Nairobi at around 11 a.m., gearing up for the 226 km drive that takes roughly 4 hours and 23 minutes, cutting through a scenic route that weaves across Kenya’s lush highlands — from Kiambu to Murang’a, then Kirinyaga, onward to Embu, passing Tharaka-Nithi, and finally rolling into Meru County.

I’ve travelled to Meru several times, but something about this trip hit differently. Maybe it was the excitement of the assignment. Maybe the anticipation of a Muckpit night. Or maybe — and most likely — it was the squad in the car.

This time, the ride morphed into a full-on road trip experience: loud shared playlists, nostalgic bangers, unfiltered banter, spontaneous storytelling, and the type of laughter that makes kilometres feel shorter.

Our driver, Patrick Gitau, matched the mood effortlessly — calm, conversational, and undeniably part of the vibe. By the time we pulled into Meru, it already felt like the night had begun.

Crowds showed up boldly, filling Checkmate Lounge with a pulsating energy that only grew stronger as the night unfolded.

Singer Iyanii, who had the entire Muckarena singing along to favourites like ‘Rumours’ and ‘Donjo Maber’, treated fans to an unforgettable headline performance.

Rising star Jay Sol took the stage with fresh flair, delivering a unique sound that resonated with the Meru crowd.

Behind the decks, DJs served nothing but heat.

And of course, hype master MC Gogo ensured there wasn’t a single dull moment.

One of the highlights of the night was the signature Muckpit & Sprite cocktail — a refreshing, bold fusion that instantly became a fan favourite.

Guests indulged in interactive brand activities and surprise experiences that kept spirits high throughout the night.

The iconic squad-friendly entry option made it clear: this was a night meant to be enjoyed together. The energy across the Muckarena was loud, spirited, and unapologetically bold — everything Captain Morgan stands for.

The Journey Back: A Quick Detour Through Embu

On Sunday, we began our drive back to Nairobi, but not without a wholesome stopover in Embu County.

Another Diageo team was in town for the Chromoka consumer campaign, where Chrome celebrated its fifth Millionaire.

We joined them for lunch — swapping stories from both assignments before hitting the road again.
