Prestige Cinema along Ngong Road was abuzz with excitement and laughter during the private premiere of Sketchy Africans, a groundbreaking Kenyan comedy feature film.

Directed by the prolific Vincent Mbaya—renowned for his work on Country Queen and Pepeta—the event drew an eclectic mix of the film’s cast, crew, industry heavyweights, and esteemed members of the Fourth Estate.

Some of the celebrities who were present at the Priemere include; King Kaka, Frasha, Naiboi, Manaseh, Shix, Kapienga, Nyokabi Macharia, Ben Tekee, Brian Ogana, Ella Inspired, Director Phil, Vincent Mbaya, Peter Kawa, Pascal Tokodi and others.

Adorned in outfits that celebrated African heritage with a playful twist, the guests embodied the night’s dress code: “African, fun with a touch of Sketchy.”

From bright Ankara prints to audacious, quirky accessories, the crowd mirrored the vibrant humor of the film itself.

The premiere marks a significant moment in the Kenyan film industry, as Sketchy Africans redefines local comedy by delivering a full-length feature with world-class production quality.

 Starring a stellar ensemble including Shix Kapienga, Nyokabi Macharia, and Benson Ojuwa, the story follows a desperate entrepreneur who hatches a hilariously audacious plan to fake an engagement and dowry ceremony to secure much-needed funds.

The clever plot, paired with impeccable performances and witty humor, left audiences roaring with laughter, setting a new standard for how Kenyan comedy can compete on an international stage.

More than just a film, Sketchy Africans serves as the launchpad for an ambitious new brand in comedy storytelling, with Sketchy AF! as its first installment.

This series aims to become an ongoing celebration of Kenyan humor, culture, and creativity.

 “This isn’t just a movie; it’s a movement,” said Vincent Mbaya during the Q&A session, emphasizing the potential for Kenyan films to capture global audiences while staying authentically local.
