After captivating Kenyans in Selina, one of the country’s most beloved TV heroines and a Kalasha nominee, Celestine Gachuhi has made her long-awaited return to the screen.
The actress, who also featured in Kiu, is back with her Showmax debut in Adam to Eve, where she takes on the role of Amanda — a character defined by quiet strength and unshakable grace.
Now a mother, wife, mentor, and women’s rights advocate, Celestine is proof that evolution doesn’t mean stepping away from the spotlight — it means shining differently.
Life After Selina
“It’s been a minute,” she admits, reflecting on her time away from screens. After Selina and a brief return in Kiu, she made a deliberate decision to step back.
“Life shifted in the biggest way possible. I became a wife. I became a mother. And everything changed.”
Away from the spotlight, she focused on building herself — her brand, her purpose, and the parts of her identity that extend beyond acting.
She poured her energy into mentoring young creatives through Film Connect Africa and advocating for women’s rights through her SIMAMA Initiative, which focuses on fighting gender-based violence.

Building the Next Generation
Celestine founded Film Connect Africa to bridge the gap she experienced as a newcomer in the industry.
“When I started acting, I was green. No one told me what a set is really like or how tough the industry can be,” she shares.
Through school and college outreach programs, she equips young creatives with real-world industry knowledge, life skills, and mindset training.
“Young creatives are now branding themselves, creating their own content, and using social media strategically. I tell them all the time — don’t wait for opportunities, create them.”
Her golden rule for upcoming storytellers?
“Talent will take you up there, but discipline will keep you there.”
Crafting Amanda’s Quiet Power
In Adam to Eve, Amanda stands firm among louder personalities — calm yet commanding.
“Every time I get a character, I don’t just play her. I live her,” she explains. “I build her life in my head, even the parts the script doesn’t say.”
Amanda, she says, is calm but strong, bubbly yet grounded — the kind of friend who tells hard truths while holding your hand.

What sets Amanda apart from her past roles?
“Her joy. She knows how to have fun without guilt, even while carrying responsibility for her family.”
The Day Fame Felt Unsafe
While fame brought love and admiration, it has also come with unsettling moments.
In 2019, a fan showed up unannounced at her Ruaka home early one morning, insisting they sing together. When the fan refused to leave, Celestine had to firmly draw boundaries and later moved houses for safety.
“That incident changed how I think about fame, privacy, and safety forever,” she says.
Advocacy Meets Art
Her passion for empowering women deeply shapes how she approaches her roles.
“I love being a woman. I love empowering women. Every role I play, I approach it knowing that beyond being human, this character is a woman first.”
She brought Amanda to life with softness, vulnerability, strength, and grace — reflecting the layered reality of women everywhere.
