Royal Media Services (RMS) Group Editorial Director Linus Kaikai is among 916 petitioners set to be admitted to the Bar as Advocates of the High Court of Kenya, according to a gazette notice issued on Sunday, October 26.
Kaikai’s name appears as entry number 394 in the official notice, which states:
“Pursuant to section 15(2) of the Advocates Act, the public is notified that the following nine hundred and sixteen (916) persons have petitioned for admission as Advocates of the High Court of Kenya. Any member of the public or institution who wishes to object to the admission of any of the persons named herein is required to do so in writing to the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary within thirty (30) days of this notice.”

Once the public scrutiny period lapses, the petitioners’ names will be formally reviewed before they take the Oath of Admission and sign the Roll of Advocates, granting them the legal right to practice law.
Under Section 15(3) of the Advocates Act, the Chief Justice is required to hear all petitions for admission within 90 days of gazettement. Upon successful vetting, Kaikai and the other petitioners will take the oath before the Chief Justice, marking their official entry into Kenya’s legal fraternity.
Linus Kaikai is a multi-award-winning journalist and seasoned media executive, currently serving as Group Editorial Director and Head of Strategy at Royal Media Services, which operates Citizen TV, Ramogi TV, Inooro TV, and Radio Citizen, among others.
Before joining RMS, Kaikai served as General Manager of Broadcasting at the Nation Media Group and previously held the position of President of the Kenya Editors Guild (KEG).

He is widely recognized for his role in moderating Kenya’s first-ever Presidential Debate in February 2013, which brought together eight presidential candidates. Kaikai earned nationwide praise for steering the debate through sensitive political issues with professionalism and composure.
He later moderated the 2017 Presidential Debate and served as the Executive Producer of the 2022 Presidential Debate series, further cementing his reputation as a respected journalist and thought leader.
Beyond the political arena, Kaikai has moderated high-level regional panels, including discussions featuring Heads of State and Government from across Eastern Africa.
Academically, he holds an MA in International Journalism from the University of Westminster (UK), a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Nairobi, and a Diploma in Radio and Television Production from the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC).
Kaikai has also gained international exposure through work experience with BBC and CNN, bringing a global perspective to his decades-long career in journalism and media management.
