Tanzanian music superstar Diamond Platnumz has made history by becoming the first artist in Sub-Saharan Africa to surpass 10 million subscribers on YouTube, earning him the prestigious Diamond Creator Award.
The “Jeje” hitmaker received the rare accolade during a recent visit to YouTube Headquarters in the United States, where he was recognized for this monumental digital milestone.
The Diamond Play Button, a shimmering silver-and-crystal plaque introduced at VidCon in 2015, is awarded to creators who reach or exceed 10 million subscribers.

“Africa’s King of Numbers”
Celebrating the achievement, Diamond’s record label WCB Wasafi shared the news with fans, hailing him as:
“Africa’s King of numbers, a milestone achieved 🥶 Diamond Platnumz becomes the first African artist to reach 10 million subscribers on YouTube (Sub-Saharan country).”
Diamond Platnumz, whose real name is Nasibu Abdul Juma Issack, launched his YouTube channel on June 12, 2011.
As of June 2025, the channel boasts over 10.1 million subscribers, with more than 1,200 videos and 3 billion total views — a testament to his enduring popularity and consistent output over the years.
