DJ Ivy Awino partners with Babu Owino to make generous donations in Nairobi

US-based Kenyan Disc Jokey Ivy Awino aka DJ Poizon Ivy has partnered with Embakasi MP Babu Owino to make generous donations to school-going kids from humble backgrounds.

Ms Awino who is in the country on behalf of the NBA, making a meaningful impact by donating essential items to young kids.

Ivy who is based in Dallas, Texas has been visiting different schools with generous contributions – school uniforms, sports gear, and other necessities, aimed at fostering both education and athletic development.

With her strong background in sports management and community engagement, Ivy continues to inspire and uplift the next generation through her dedication and generosity.

In one of her missions, Ms Awino partnered with Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino to donate sports uniforms to Ngara Girls students.

Speaking at the school, Ivy went down memory lane- sharing her inspiring story aimed at encouraging the students to work hard and aim higher.

“I spent my childhood in Lang’ata and I’m always elated to come back to Nairobi, a place that I love so much and it’s so dear to my heart. The best city in the world.

Ngara is very special to me because my mother is an Almuni of Ngara girls…I made history by being the first female DJ for an NBA team – the Dallas Mavericks. I stand before you as an example of what sports can do,” Ivy Awino said in part.

She went on to state that she holds a strong belief that sports can transform lives and that is why she was in Kenya to uplift others.

“Today I’m here to donate these sports kits. I have a very special place for young women. I’m a mother to a 12-year-old girl and everything I do is to inspire the future,” Awino added in her speech.

“Sports helps take care of your body, your mind, your soul, and also your spirit,”.

On his part, MP Owino lauded Ivy Awino for a thoughtful initiative to support school-going kids with generous donations.  

He also challenged the students to fully focus on their education if they want to go achievers in life.

“Make sure that after here you go to senior secondary, then University because practice makes perfect.

Ivy has worked hard to ensure that these kits are here in Embakasi constituency and we have other kits that we will distribute to other schools as well with Nairobi,” MP Babu Owino.
