There are brunches… and then there are experiences.
On Sunday, February 15th, I stepped into what can only be described as a beautifully curated celebration of sisterhood, style, and self-care at The Social House Nairobi. The Galentines Brunch, organized by Family Wine House in collaboration with SkinSol Aesthetics Clinic, was nothing short of spectacular — and from the moment I arrived, I knew we were in for something special.
Burgundy Done Right
The theme was “A Touch of Burgundy,” and let me tell you — the guests understood the assignment. Rich wine-toned dresses, bold burgundy lips, structured blazers, and flowing silhouettes painted the room in effortless elegance. It felt intentional. It felt powerful. It felt like women (and a few stylish gents) showing up fully and unapologetically.

The ambiance at The Social House Nairobi provided the perfect backdrop — intimate yet elevated, chic yet welcoming. It set the tone for an indulgent afternoon of guided wine tasting, delicious bites, elevated vibes, and beautiful connections.
Swirl, Sip, Savor
At the heart of the brunch was a guided wine tasting session that allowed us to slow down and truly appreciate the craft behind every bottle. Family Wine House, known for its range of South African wines crafted by award-winning winemakers, took us through a journey of flavor — from crisp, refreshing whites to bold, full-bodied reds.

Each sip felt intentional. Each pour sparked conversation.
The food? Equally delightful. Perfectly paired bites elevated the tasting, creating that seamless harmony between flavor and finesse. And just when I thought it couldn’t get better, we were each gifted a FREE bottle of wine to take home — because why should the celebration end at brunch?
Beauty, Wellness & Glow Conversations
Skinsol brought an entirely different layer to the experience. On ground was a Medical Aesthetician offering personalized skin consultations — and I loved how practical and empowering this felt. It wasn’t just about looking good; it was about understanding your skin and discovering the right treatments for your glow journey.
As someone who appreciates wellness experiences that go beyond surface-level beauty, this stood out.
We also walked away with a beautifully curated gift box featuring skincare samples, a sheet mask and a 15% OFF gift voucher from Skinsol. Thoughtful, luxurious and useful — the perfect trifecta.

A Room Full of Influence
The guest list reflected the caliber of the afternoon. I spotted media personality and content creator Maureen Waititu, Citizen TV’s Dennis Otieno, Skinsol founder and CEO Domiana, Family Wine House founder Perpetual Kendi, and Wowzi president and co-founder Mike Otieno, among others.
But beyond the familiar faces, what truly impressed me was the organic networking that unfolded. Conversations flowed naturally. Ideas were exchanged. Collaborations were hinted at. It didn’t feel forced — it felt aligned.
This wasn’t just a brunch; it was a room full of intentional connections.

The Personal Touch That Stayed With Me
After the event, I received a personal note from Perpetual Kendi that genuinely warmed my heart. It read:
“Good Afternoon, Dear,
Thank you so much for being part of yesterday’s brunch. I am truly grateful for your presence and support — it meant more than you know.
It would be my pleasure to add you to the Family Wine House Club, where you’ll receive exclusive invitations to our private gatherings and curated experiences. We would also love to celebrate your special moments with you — especially your birthday — with a beautiful bottle from Family Wine House, thoughtfully selected just for you.
With appreciation and warmth,
Xoxo Kendi.”
In an era where events often feel transactional, that personal follow-up made the experience feel relational. Thoughtful. Community-driven.
More Than Just A Sunday Plan
As I left The Social House Nairobi that afternoon — wine in hand, skincare treats tucked safely in my bag and new connections saved in my phone — I realized something: the Galentines Brunch was about more than aesthetics.

It was about an intentional celebration. It was about women supporting women. It was about a luxury that feels warm and inclusive.
And if this is the standard Family Wine House and Skinsol are setting for curated lifestyle experiences in Nairobi, then I’ll gladly RSVP to the next one — preferably in burgundy again.
