Friends of Uganda (FoU), a transformative citizen-led movement committed to promoting peace, unity, and national preservation beyond political divides, has officially been launched in Uganda.

The organization underscores the need to nurture peace intentionally — in hearts, homes, communities, and across the nation. Its goal is to reaffirm a collective commitment to building a peaceful, united, and prosperous Uganda.

FoU’s guiding philosophy is rooted in the principle of choosing action over apathy: “Not to curse the darkness, sustain injustices, but to light the candle that shall guide us toward a safer and saner future.”

Friends of Uganda envisions a peaceful, united, and prosperous nation where citizens take collective responsibility for safeguarding the country’s resources and future.

The movement upholds national interest above political cycles, partisan divisions, and short-term agendas.

The mission of Friends of Uganda is to cultivate a culture of peace, active tolerance, and patriotic responsibility among Ugandans.

The movement seeks to achieve this through strategic advocacy, inclusive cross-party dialogue, grassroots mobilization, and citizen-driven national preservation campaigns.

FoU is inviting all Ugandans to join the movement and take part in building a more peaceful and prosperous nation.

The launch took place on 12th November 2025 at Makerere University, where attendees gathered to mark the beginning of this nationwide initiative.
