Former Director of Press Service in the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary Salim Swaleh is now asking for forgiveness from his boss.
An emotional Swaleh said that he broke an unmatched trust that was built over the years and he is sorry.
“Good morning Your Excellency, I hope this video finds you well.
Nimesema nirecord this video kwa sababu nimejaribu kukutafuta sana for the last couple of weeks sijafanikiwa kukupata. I’ve sent several people to talk to you but sijakuwa nikipat majibu yoyote.
“Your Excellency, you have been my father figure for the longest time that I’ve known you.
We’ve built an unmatched trust between us and for the last one and a half I have served you, served your good office, and served you with unmatched zeal. I broke the trust and I’m so sorry about it. I’m truly remorseful about it,” he said in a viral video seen by Famous Media.
The former news anchor added he lost everything in a flash and that the bills have also become a big challenge to him as they are piling up.
He pleaded for forgiveness as he sought help clearing his name so that he could pick up from where he left off.
“It’s end month, bills are piling up, salary stopped abruptly, I have loans, please find it in your heart to forgive me.
“Secondly, please help end this so that I can pick up the small pieces left and see where I can begin. With the kind of bad publicity I got, it is almost impossible to get another place to work. Please have mercy on me.”
Swaleh said the past few weeks have been difficult for him and he cannot even get out of his house.
The former news anchor noted that the bad publicity he received over the arrest has made him suicidal.
“The last one month has been so difficult for me. I’ve been unable to even walk out because of the kind of publicity I received, everything people said about me just threw me into some unchartered territory. A lot of things have been running in my mind, very bad things, sometimes I feel like taking my own life.”
Swaleh said the prosecution has been deliberately delaying the case as well and each time they appear in court they have to use money to pay the lawyers.
He claimed that even the police have been minting money from them and all he wants is his name cleared and just a fresh start.
“I lost everything in a blink of an eye but more so the court process every time I go there, lawyers are on my neck, police are on my neck, everybody is extorting me left, right and center, they think I have a lot of money.
Every time we go there we are told the prosecution has not received any direction on what should happen to the case and lawyers would want it to continue that way because every session, they take money from us, the police take money from us,” he stated.
Salim Swaleh who worked as Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi’s communications director and four others allegedly conspired to defraud Sh5.8 million from a consultancy company.
