President William Ruto has said that his focus is solely on transforming Kenya and lives of Kenyans.

According to the President, he is not focused on his re-election in 2027.

He said that Kenya needs leaders who can make the right decisions and not populist decisions, which he said have put the country in its current predicaments.

“My focus is not in 2027. My focus is transforming Kenya. There’s always a belief that people must focus on the next election. Good people there’s more than the next election, we need to do and make the right decisions for Kenya now,” President Ruto said.

“If we make decisions merely because we want to be popular, that is how we get ourselves into the kind of situation our country is in,” he added.

The President spoke at KICC where he held a Townhall meeting with students and other education stakeholders to explain the new University funding model.

He said Kenyan universities are in huge debt because of the inability to make sound decisions that can get them out of such issues.

“That is how we end with our universities in so much debt because we are unable to make decisions that will get our universities out of trouble,” Ruto said.
