Legendary Hype Man MC Fullstop Passes Away After Long Battle with TB

Kenya’s entertainment industry is mourning the loss of legendary reggae and dancehall hype man John Maina, popularly known as MC Fullstop, who has passed away after a prolonged battle with Tuberculosis (TB).

MC Fullstop had been open about his health struggles in recent years. In 2021, he revealed he was battling tuberculosis (TB), which severely affected his lungs.

His condition worsened in 2022 when he was diagnosed with TB of the throat—a rare and debilitating form of the disease that significantly impacted his ability to speak, walk, and perform basic daily tasks.

Despite his deteriorating health, MC Fullstop remained a beloved figure in the reggae and dancehall scene, known for his infectious energy, signature voice, and deep connection with fans across the country.

His contribution to Kenya’s music culture, particularly on TV and radio platforms like “Riddim Base,” played a crucial role in shaping the reggae scene.

Several Kenyan celebrities and fans have taken to social media to express their grief and pay tribute to the iconic hype man.
