The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has dismissed claims of a blackout at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) following the Friday night power outage.
KAA insisted that social media reports claiming disruptions as false and misleading.
KAA said the backup power systems and generators at the airport were activated promptly following the national grid outage.
“KAA would like to clarify that reports circulating on social media regarding disruptions to operations at the JKIA due to the nationwide power outage are FALSE & MISLEADING.
“The backup power systems and generators at the airport were activated promptly following tonight’s national grid outage, ensuring that the airport maintained full electricity supply without any interruption to services or flight operations,” the authority said.
It has also sought to assure the public of its commitment to ensuring smooth services.
“We assure the public that JKIA remains fully operational, and passengers can expect seamless service throughout their travel experience,” KAA said.
“The safety and security of our passengers are our top priorities, and we are dedicated to upholding the highest standards in airport operations.”
Kenya Power in an update on the blackout said electricity has since been restored to most parts of the country.
