Nairobi is gearing up to host one of the continent’s most anticipated events—the 2026 Historic Africa Day Celebration—set to take place from May 23 to 25. The three-day event is expected to draw delegates, policymakers, creatives, and cultural enthusiasts from across Africa and beyond, positioning Kenya’s capital as a vibrant hub of unity, heritage, and forward-looking leadership.

Building on the success of last year’s edition held in Nigeria, this year’s celebration promises to raise the bar, with organizers committing to a globally competitive program that reflects Africa’s growing influence on the world stage. The celebrations will kick off with a symbolic 20-kilometre Unity Walk through the streets of Nairobi. At the helm of this year’s celebrations is Amb. Dr. Yusuf Noah, widely known as Refigah Heviweit, who has been appointed Chairperson of the organizing committee. A member of the African Union Public-Private Partnership (AU PPP) Summit Steering Committee, he brings a wealth of experience spanning creative industries, governance, and diplomacy.
