President Ruto, Uhuru & Raila lead Kenyans in mourning Chebukati

President William Ruto, retired President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga lead Kenyans in mourning former IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati.

Ruto used his socials to eulogize Chebukati as a principled and diligent leader who served the nation with integrity.  He added that Chebukati’s death is a great loss to the Nation.

“I have received the news of the passing of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairperson Wafula Chebukati with profound sorrow.

“Chebukati was a principled and diligent leader who served the nation with integrity.  His death is a great loss to our country.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time. Rest In Peace,” Ruto said

Wafula Chebukati will be remembered for his courageous, stoic and emotionless posture while he steered Kenya’s general elections as the Chairman of the IEBC.

He was calm but firm. He displayed fairness  and he discharged his professional and public duties oblivious of bias.

In his death, Kenya has lost a great son, patriot and consummate lawyer.

Chebukati died on Thursday, February 20, at 11 pm.

The former IEBC boss had been admitted to a hospital in Nairobi where he had been undergoing treatment for nearly a week.
