Nominated Senator Hezena Lemaletian has been granted temporary restraining orders against her estranged fiancé, Musa Hussein Lenyumpa, following the breakdown of their relationship.
In a ruling by Magistrate Festus Terer, the court prohibited Musa from assaulting, threatening, harassing, or otherwise interfering with the Senator’s well-being.
The orders also bar him from using her name, image, or likeness for personal or commercial gain, publishing any information about her, or accessing her residence or workplace until further notice.
Through her lawyer, Danstan Omari, Senator Lemaletian told the court that their relationship was limited to a Samburu customary courtship, which she later ended. She clarified that no dowry was ever paid, and that the Sh.100,000 “ropiyani e loip” he gave was simply a traditional token — an amount she has since returned in full.

The Senator alleged that Musa’s conduct has severely affected her safety, privacy, and professional reputation.
She accuses him of issuing death threats, physically assaulting her — including an incident that caused a nosebleed and spreading false claims that they were married.
According to the court documents, Lemaletian claims Musa has used social media platforms and bloggers to tarnish her image, posing a direct threat to her personal security and political career.
The case is scheduled for an inter partes hearing on September 22, 2025, when both parties will present arguments on whether the restraining orders should be extended or revised.
