Tukutane Entertainment has responded to the withdrawal of Kodong Klan from the highly anticipated Asake X Gabzy Live event, stating that the organizers fully met all contractual and logistical obligations and bear no responsibility for the group’s decision to exit the lineup.
In an official statement, Tukutane confirmed that Kodong Klan was formally contracted to perform at the event and was paid in full. The organizers maintained that all agreed terms were honoured in line with professional and industry standards.
“The decision by Kodong Klan to withdraw from the event was made independently by the group,” the statement read, noting that the withdrawal stemmed from concerns raised by the artists regarding interactions with other performers during soundcheck.
While acknowledging the group’s position, Tukutane Entertainment emphasized that it holds no liability for the decision.

The organizers further stated that they made all reasonable efforts to ensure Kodong Klan was provided with a professional, respectful, and supportive environment throughout the engagement process. However, they stressed that the circumstances leading to the group’s withdrawal were beyond their control.
Tukutane Entertainment reaffirmed its commitment to international best practices in artist engagement, welfare, and event production, expressing regret over Kodong Klan’s exit from the lineup.
The response comes after Kodong Klan earlier announced that it would not perform at the event, citing repeated disrespect, interference during soundcheck, and alleged failure by organizers to intervene or uphold pre-agreed standards.
The collective said performing under such conditions would compromise the integrity of their craft and signal acceptance of unacceptable treatment.
Despite the setback, Tukutane Entertainment assured fans and patrons that the quality and success of Asake X Gabzy Live would not be affected. The organizers reiterated their commitment to delivering a world-class entertainment experience, promising high energy and an unforgettable show on what they described as “the biggest stage in Africa.”
