You are an astute leader! Ruto praises CS Beatrice Askul after swearing-in

President William Ruto has showered the new East African Community and Regional Affairs Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Askul with praises – terming her an astute leader.

The President said this is because he has known her for over 20 years.

He said that he has confidence that she will do well in her new portfolio which will also see her sit as an ex-officio member of the East African Legislative Assembly.

“To my sister Beatrice. I have known you for 20 years and I know that you are an astute leader. You have my confidence as you serve the people of Kenya in your new responsibility,” he said.

President Ruto reminded CS Askul that her responsibilities will extend to partner states in the EAC and not only Kenya.

He added that he is confident of Askul’s leadership skills, even as she takes on the new role as CS.

“You have a responsibility not just to us as Kenya but to our brothers and sisters in the East African Community as well,” Ruto said.

Askul and the new Attorney General Dorcas Oduor were sworn in on Tuesday and officially took charge of their new offices.

Askul is one of the five Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) officials who relinquished their party positions to take up Cabinet jobs.

Ruto further noted that Askul and other regional ministers from the EAC have the heavy task of harnessing the potential of the 300 million people in the community.
Their appointment followed the dismissal of the entire Cabinet by President William Ruto on July 11, 2024.
